Wait - so the study didn't measure the effects, but it's saying it's not a bad thing? How does that work? It's not a bad thing because there is some benefit? Smoking cigarettes reduces anxiety in people so that's not a bad thing?

Yes, it teaches them tech skills, but they also text each other while sitting in the same room -- which is a little scary. I would be interested to see a measurement of how face to fact interactions and conversational skills are faring with the lol culture.
